What's Happening in Southern Vermont

Often, there is a lot for you to do in Southern Vermont.  Sometimes there is a little to do Southern Vermont.  It all depends on your perspective.   (Nothing to do today?  Then click on this link and plug in the date.  Or we have some more ideas about winter activities around Stratton.)

You can have it any way you wish.  An event can be as big as a town fair, play, meeting with the governor, fancy Equinox ball or Stratton Wedding.  An event can be as small as a hike alone through the mountains ... or just a stop to examine a leaf.

At strattoncondos.com, we try to represent middle Southern Vermont.  Draw a circle around Stratton and we cover most areas within 30 miles or so.  We are primarly Stratton, Manchester, Peru, Weston, Londonderry, Ludlow.  However we cover events down to Brattleoro and Bennington and up to Rutland.

In 2009, we will try to highlite our favorite events in this area, including early spring, summer, fall and winter events.  At this time, please click here for a complete list of all Vermont Events.

One Weekend on the Start of Stick Season

Every weekend is different.  For example, in just one long weekend late October where we had planned nothing ahead of time, after most of the leaves had fallen, we andsome friends in their mid-eighties:

  • carved up Pumpkins at Orvis to make the Guinnis Book of World Records,
  • found the path to Wild Wings Cross Country skiing center (albeit a little early in the season)
  • bought a giant pumpkin in Dorsett and then ate a phenominal meal at the Dorsett Inn
  • after watching "You've Got Mail" went to the Northshire Bookstore for a presentation,
  • ate cheeze and Vermont relishes at the Vermont Country Store,
  • had our car successfully diagnosed and repaired (when it could not be done on LI)
  • bought hand made wooden Christmas ornaments at Stratton
  • visited Tod Lincoln's Home and grounds
  • took hundreds of pictures
  • and too much to list.

Summer Events in Southern Vermont

There is a lot going around in Southern Vermont during the summer.  It is cooler (much cooler) then the rest of the East Coast (except for randomly periods during the last three weeks in July and first of August).  It is a beautiful place to travel, hike, golf, bike and play tennis, when the rest of the world is indoors under a.c.

A strattoncondos.com we represent middle Southern Vermont, an easy drive from New York.  It's just a lazy four hours in the summer (but can be five plus stopping time in the winter).  We are expanding our information about everything in Manchester, Stratton, Arlington, Dorsett, Londonderry, Peru and Weston Vermont primarily.  Also we cover major events to Brattleoro and Bennington and up to Ludlow and Rutland.

Favorite Summer Activities are:

  • golf on beautiful mountain courses
  • tennis
  • Arts, Galleries and Local Museums in Sothern Vermont.
  • Plays and Theater
  • Vermont Summer Horse Shows
  • Kayaking and Toors around Vermont
  • Bromley Mountain rides and events
  • Trails.
In 2009, we will try to highlite all events in this area, including spring, summer, fall and winter events.  At this time, please click here for a complete list of all Vermont Events.   We are starting a separate section about the Fall in Southern Vermont.
