If you have any Questions and see a "strattoncondos.com" jacket on the slope, just ask us.  On the picture above is Bob (to the right) and his friend Jeff out one bitter wicked cold morning at Stratton.  But the skiing was great.  Follow any link to find more About Us, our Hours of Operation, Ski Conditions, weather or to see why you need warm clothing at Stratton.
Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  How do we get there? Where are the condos?

A.  For detailed directions to Bondville on Rt. 30, Vermont or Stratton Condos, please click on the “
Directions”.  We also have general directions to the Condominium complexes.  When you rent from us we will provide you with detailed directions to a specific unit.
Do not, we repeat, do not Google or request web map directions to "Stratton".  "Stratton" will point you to the small town hall in the 200 year old mountain town that is 4 miles away.  If you go on the internet, search for "Bondville Vermont" for the base of the access road.  Search for "Manchester, Vermont" if you are coming up the Taconic or Thruway.

Q. Are there any condo rules?

A.  There are several.  Please remember that these are peoples homes made available for short rentals:

  • NO Pets – Renters can not bring pets into the condos.
  • NO Smoking in any of the Units.
  • Ski boots and equipment stay in the ski locker entrance area, the hallways or designated areas.  They should not be brought into the unit living area.  Most people take off their shoes before entering the units.
  • The unit has to be left broom clean with all dishes put away or in the dishwasher.  Garbage has to be removed.
  • Finally, please keep little children from jumping off the stairways or running in the halls.  The condos generally transmit heavy foot traffic sounds to the condo below.  No loud noise after 10:00 PM.

Q. Is there Internet access in the condo?  What about cell phones?

A. Some condos finally have internet access.  In the past it was only through the telephone.  AOL has local Internet numbers in Londonderry and Manchester Vermont.  (The Stratton zip code is 05155).  Many condos have dialing other than local as a restricted phone call.  Where they are not, please note that many Vermont calls require dialing an 802 number and are actually more expensive than long distance calls.  When the phone is not restricted, you are generally charged only for your actual phone usage.  Many cell phones now work in Vermont, but access is often broken when driving down the mountains.

Q. Are linens provided with my lodging?
A. Yes, linens are generally provided.  Please do not completely make any beds when finally leaving, so that cleaners know what to make up.

Q. Are there hair dryers in the bathrooms?
A.  Many units have hair dryers.

Q. What amenities are generally provided?

A.  Almost everything you would expect in a condo that is often occupied by the owner.  A brief rundown: usually alarm clocks, telephones, TV's and VCR's and DVD's.  All major appliances are provided including a microwave, toaster, a coffee maker, dishes, cooking utensils, silverware, towels and linens.

Q.  What abaout a Washer / dryer?
A.  Most units have a small washer/dryer combination.  Please use only a small amount (a tablespoon) of soap in the front loading washing machines.  The dryer lint filter should be cleaned after each load.  Please check the top of the washer drum for any leftover clothing.

Q. What are the housekeeping services?

A.  A single cleaning will be done after the stay.  We ask that the condo be left broom clean, placing all dishes away or in the dishwasher and primary kitchen garbage removed at the end of the stay.  You will be charged generally between $125 to $250 for the exit cleaning.

Q. What time is check-in/check-out?

A. Check-in time is generally between 4:30 or 5:00 PM; check-out time is 10:00 to 11:00 AM.  However, if there are no other guests arriving or departing the same day, these can be easily be arranged with the owner.

Q. What do you do to light a fire?

A.  Open the flu first on the woodburning fireplaces.  You may have to reach into the fireplace and open the damper by pulling it towards you or twist the damper nob.  Make certain there is a draft.  Some units also have a fan to help the draft.  Always close the metal screen.  The wood, near the outdoor condo entrances, is often wet; so always close the metal screen completely to avoid sparks.  If the wind is over 30 mph, please do not start a fire.

And ... as silly as it may sound ... please make certain that you know if it is a gas or wood burning fireplace.  The gas fireplaces have separate turn-on, turn-off switches.

Q. Where can I get my tickets?

A. Lift tickets and event passes can be picked up as early as 7:00 AM at the Stratton Base Lodge, main floor, just at the end of the Village.  There are discounts offered for multiple days.  If you are skiing four days or more at Stratton in a season, the express pass is the way to go.

Q. Where do I get my skis, boots and snowboards?

A. They can be rented at any of the ski shops in the area or at the mountain.  The ski shops tend to have the better performance equipment.  Please mention strattoncondos.com and see if you can get a discount.  There are also many demo programs.

Q.  How do I get to the Sports Center?

A. On the access road, go past the Village and past the Stratton Springs condos.  Make a left by the Styles Brook sign and another left into the Sports Center parking lot.  The Sports Center has a a weight room, many exercise bikes, a beautiful large pool, classes and other features.

Q. Is there a charge to use the Sports Center?

A. Guests of our Mountain Side and Village Side condos are generally invited to access the Sport Center at a discounted rate. The charge is $10.60 per visit per person to use the pool, hot tub, cardio-training equipment, and weight room.  Children six and under are free.  Some complexes, such as Piper Ridge, have their own indoor pool and sports center.

Q.  Are there spa services available?

A. Stratton opened a full service spa in the Village two years ago.  Please check it for services.  The Sports Center sometimes will offer masseuses and tanning beds, along with being a full service gym.

Q.  Where do I buy food?

A. In the middle of the Village there is a deli, which now has a food section called Stratton Provisions.  The closest place for weekend provisions is the Winhall Village Market, just left on Rt.30 at the base of the access road.  For other shopping, there is a Stop and Shop and a Price Chopper in Manchester.  There is also an IGA in South Londonderry up Route 100.

Q. Where are the restaurants?

A. There are a lot of good restaurants in the area and in Manchester.  You may need to make reservations on a Saturday or holiday night.

Really nice places to walk to, especially with children, with family type food, are Mulligan's and Mulberry’s in the Village.  Verdi's and Luna's at the Stratton Mountain Club (weekdays only) are up-scale restaurants.

The Sirloin Saloon in Manchester has a great salad bar and is also a good family spot.  There is often an hour wait on Saturday night so call and try to make reservations.  For more selections please click on: dining section.

Q. What do I bring?

A. All of your equipment and warm clothing first.  Then lots of money.  Do not forget keys, medications, glasses, etc.  For a MS Word packing list, please click here.

Q. How do I get started?

A. Just pick a date and email us at strattoncondos@aol.com.  You need to make Christmas vacation, Martin Luther King Weekend, President's Week and US Open week reservations a long time ahead.  Many book a year in advance.  In the 2007 season, we will be posting specials on strattoncondos.com.
